Fisheries-Independent Monitoring Program 2004 Annual Data Summary Report

This report provides a summary of the data collected in 2004 by the FWC/FWRIFisheries-Independent Monitoring (FIM) program, which completed its fifteenth year ofsampling in Florida waters. Monitoring was conducted monthly using a stratifiedrandomsampling (SRS) design in Tampa Bay, Charlotte Harbor, the northern IndianRiver Lagoon, Cedar Key, the southern Indian River Lagoon, Apalachicola Bay, theFlorida Keys, and northeast Florida. Gears used for routine monitoring in the variousareas included 21.3-m seines, 6.1-m otter trawls, 183-m haul seines, and 183-m purseseines (Table OV04-01). In the Florida Keys, visual surveys were used to sample reeffish. Details of the sampling methods for the Florida Keys are discussed in this report(see Fisheries-Independent Monitoring and the Florida Keys sections).
