Timucua I: Prosodics and Phonemics of the Mocama Dialect
The Timucua language was spokenin an area which may be generally definedas northern and central peninsular Florida.The western limits can be tentatively setat the Aucilla River in northwest Florida,and the southern limits at the Tampa Bayregion on the Gulf coast and the IndianRiver region on the Atlantic coast. In thenorth Cumberland Island and, roughly, aline from there north of the OkeefenokeeSwamp west to the Aucilla set the boundariesof the Timucua area.
