The St. Johns River is a 500 km long, north-flowing, blackwater river located within the upper eastern extent of peninsular Florida, USA. The lower 131 km of the St. Johns River includes the St. Johns estuary and a tidal, freshwater reach which, collectively, are called the Lower St. Johns River (LSJR). The LSJR begins just north of Little Lake George and flows north through the city of Jacksonville where it turns eastward and empties into the Atlantic Ocean at Mayport, Florida.
