Association Between Contaminant Tissue Residues and Effects in Aquatic Organisms
Tissue residues have been proposed to be a more appropriate indicator of adverse effects in aquatic biota than external water concentrations because tissue residues should represent a more toxicologically relevant "dose" (McCarty and Mackey 1993).
