Florida Wetland Acreage

Wetlands cover 12 million acres or 31% of Florida. Of these11.5 million acres are vegetatedwith trees, shrubs or emergentplants. In addition to thesewetlands there are over a millionacres of lakes and rivers inFlorida too deep to be classifiedas wetlands. Ninety percent, orroughly 10.5 million acres, ofFlorida's vegetated wetlands arefresh water, of which 69% aredominated by trees and shrubs.
